We’re excited to introduce a simple and effective way to grow as disciples together
The 3-1-1 Challenge
Here’s how it works:
✅ 3 – Form a three (or 4) person “challenge group” to challenge each other to daily read God’s word
✅ 1 – Meet once a week with your “challenge group” for 3-12 months
✅ 1 – Meet for 1 hour at a location of your choice (coffee shop, church, diner, park, zoom, or home).
Purpose
- To grow in faith and Christlikeness
- To create a daily rhythm of devotion to God
- To foster accountability and growth through the refining process of relationships.
- To multiply disciples
Components
- Reading daily 1 to 3 chapters from the Bible with an emphasis on hearing what it is saying with the help of the Holy Spirit
- Sharing what God is speaking to you through his word each week in your group time.
- Sharing personal concerns with accountability.
- Praying for each other.
Getting Started – Sign up on the Church Center app. If you need help selecting a group, one of the discipleship leaders will help you find the right group. Or if you have a group formed that will be taking the challenge, the point leader will register the group on the Church Center app. Or talk to a discipleship leader
Consider starting with one of these options based on your group’s Bible reading background:
- Basics of Christianity: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Psalms, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Proverbs
- Maturing: Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, and Philemon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Genesis, Joshua, etc.
- Bible Reading Plan options-These are just some suggestions of where you may start
Discuss the reading – Use these simple questions when you meet:
oWhat did God speak to you in your reading?
oWhat does this passage show me about God?
oWhat is God asking me to do?
Commitment & Next Steps – Try this for 3 months to 12 months. After that, your group can decide whether to continue or multiply by forming new groups. The goal is to create a multiplying movement of discipleship.
- After the 3 to 12 months of the 3-1-1 Challenge, those who are ready will recruit 2 or 3 others and start a new 3-1-1 Challenge group.
